I've done this!
Let's stretch this, more than 2019 sq ft has been projected and 321 sq ft has been manufactured and installed by using fabric as a main structural element to create a permanent and temporary shelter for residential and commercials spaces and the most interesting fact regarding this construction method is how physics challenge the form as it found in minimal surfaces in nature.
In my daily professional routine, there has always been a sketch involved in the ideas communication process. I do not discriminate from a humble napkin with a pen to a fancy paper with markers, chalks and crayons. I hang out with my sketches. Few of them were rebuilt within photoshop and illustrator and they look nice for presentations but I get along with the humble ones.
All the technicalities of an object or design project need to be written down for production, installation or construction so could a designer be a designer and knowing not how to make plan views, cuts, sections, details and most important understand the scale of them. So, this how we prescribe our solutions to factories, workshops or construction sites. However, additive manufacturing technologies are changing the way products are documented, if this is the case, creating 3D models is also a capability to offer.
Useful objects produced by mass production techniques require a wide range of approaches, methods, technologies etc. but especially the involvement of multidisciplinary teams, in most cases, to resolve a human want. Many local projects were developed in Venezuela when I started to work for a design studio, Iguano C.A., ever since my curiosity and attraction to resolve design needs have not stopped.
Cabinets, millwork, POP, front desk, chairs, desk, closet, restaurant and offices furniture assemblies and pieces have been, not only designed, but programmed and machined by Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machines, specifically from the Omnitech Selexx Pal Router family. Having had experience in the CAD/CAM industry has enabled the manufacture of pieces made out of many materials such as plywoods, MDF, acrylics, aluminum, polypropylene sheets and some solid wood boards.
Everything started when I was 8 years old, yes many years ago, I put together a scale model of the MIG-15 aircraft and then my journey building prototypes, mockups, and any other type of 3D object started. It not only became a vital part of my creative process to validate functional, ergonomic, functional and aesthetic aspects of my design but also enhance creativity and understanding of the design problem.
An appreciation for harmony and beauty, not only for the shape of things, but how is performed a skill and the function of them got me to paint walls, install interiors doors, cabinets, shingles, moldings and other fixtures to make spaces a deliverable of wellbeing.
General education in business combine with the early experience of managing my design studio and being an installation coordinator for renovation projects at Rona has provided me with the basics tools to organize projects and allocate resources, and so, conclude them at the best of my capabilities. I have prepared contractual agreements with specialists, clients, suppliers, and contractors. Forms, invoices, excel sheets, Gantt charts, among other tools and techniques, are created to organize, tutoring and lead my project teams.
Kitchen Design
More than 30 kitchens installed within the last 3 years and about 90 quoted from different manufacturers such as Merit, Kitchen craft and Eurorite. By using 2020 design and having the aforementioned digital catalogs, the quoting and budgeting stage of the project has become much more efficient than when I designed cabinets and millwork from scratch in Rhinoceros then CNC.
